Phil obtained 2 1/2 gal (11 liter) buckets for free from the food service. Students drilled holes in the buckets and lids, then shredded newspaper for bedding. They dunked the newspaper in a bucket of water, added some soil, and placed a half pound or so of the clean-sort worms into each bucket. They would take them back to their rooms for the winter, adding food waste once or twice a week. It will be a new experience for students to have their own garbage disposals in their rooms for the winter! Truly an experiment!
